Washington State University was a founding member of the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities’ (NWCCU) predecessor agency and was first accredited in 1918. Since that time, WSU has been continuously accredited, based on the NWCCU standards, which underlie quality assurance and continuing improvement at an institution of higher education. WSU was last re-accredited by NWCCU in 1999, and that status was reaffirmed by the commission on the basis of an interim report in 2004.
